Liquidity Voids (FVG)
By LuxAlgoJul 18, 2023
Liquidity Voids (FVG) maps the ranges price skipped: when a sharp, one-directional move leaves little traded activity behind, the indicator shades that stretch as a bullish or bearish void at the exact levels it covers. Detection builds on fair value gap logic, but a void describes a run of imbalance across a move rather than a single price gap, which is what makes the distribution of voids so useful for reading where a market is under-traded.
How to Trade the Liquidity Voids (FVG)?
- Unfilled void ahead of price: a candidate magnet. Voids tend to fill because the one-sided move that carved them left orders unmatched at those levels.
- Void fill in progress: some voids fill within a few bars, others take many periods; treat the fill as a correction opportunity rather than a timed signal.
- Direction from context: read voids alongside higher-timeframe market structure and supply and demand to judge whether a fill is a pullback or a reversal.
The tool sits naturally beside the library's wider smart-money toolset, where voids complete the picture that structure and liquidity levels begin.
Liquidity Voids (FVG) Settings
- Liquidity Voids Threshold: filters detection; 0 applies no filtering, while higher values require a void's width to measure up against a fixed-length ATR.
- Mode: controls the detection and visualization lookback.
- # Bars: sets a custom lookback length when Mode is set to Present.
- Labels Visibility / Filled Liquidity Voids Visibility: toggle void labels and whether filled voids remain drawn.
