Trendlines with Breaks Oscillator
By LuxAlgoNov 12, 2025
Trendlines with Breaks Oscillator converts trendline breakouts into a measurable momentum stream. It tracks the maximum distance price travels beyond bullish and bearish breaks, smooths each side with its own synthetic EMA, and plots the delta around zero: positive when bullish breaks carry more force, negative when bearish ones do. A signal line, breakout dots, and a divergence detector complete the read.
How to Trade the Trendlines with Breaks Oscillator?
- Above or below zero: the momentum regime, bullish break pressure versus bearish.
- Slope of the oscillator: an ascending slope signals strengthening momentum; a descending one shows it draining away.
- Green and red dots: bullish breakouts from descending trendlines and bearish breakouts from ascending ones, stamped onto the oscillator.
- Signal-line crossings: crosses above the signal line often precede upward corrections or rallies; crosses below often precede downward legs.
- Divergences: price making higher highs against lower oscillator highs warns of a bearish turn; lower lows against higher oscillator lows argue a bullish one.
Larger alpha values smooth the oscillator for major-trend work; smaller ones make it snap to short-term movement.
Trendlines with Breaks Oscillator Settings
- Swing Detection Lookback: how far back swing highs and lows are read when building trendlines.
- Slope and Slope Calculation Method: steepness (0 for flat levels, above 1 for steeper lines) and the math that sets it.
- Short Alpha Length / Long Alpha Length: the fast and slow synthetic-EMA periods whose difference forms the oscillator.
- Smoothing Signal: smoothing method and period for the signal line, chosen from 10 methods.
- Divergences: toggle detection and set its length. Shorter catches minor divergences, longer isolates major turning points.
